SCM Communication management
Through this module, a business process can be received or sent in different standardizations. This applies to all business processes in SCM. The incoming data is converted into a common format and stored in the history table. In the history of each field is archived in its maximum expression. The conversion process is realized by the integrated converter. The converter is designed with the premise of managing customer-specific adaptations.
The VDA (Association of the German automotive industry) has developed an industry-specific standard for electronic communications in the automotive industry, that is used since 1978 with great success. The German automotive industry and their suppliers communicate mostly using this this standard.
The Odette (Organization for Data Exchange by Tele Transmission in Europe) Ltd. International is a non-profit organization of several national automotive associations based in London. It is committed to standards in the areas of logistics, EDI and Partner Relationship Management. In logistics, the standardized goods label in the delivery of goods to the production of the automobile manufacturers mentioned. The material tags are stickers are printed on which all the relevant data in both plain text and in barcode. Each member firm is replaced by a so-called Odette organization code that is an integral part of EDI messages. For Germany and Austria, these managed jointly by the VDA in Germany.
UN / EDIFACT (United Nations Electronic Data Interchange For Administration, Commerce and Transport) is a cross-industry international standard for the format of electronic data in commerce. EDIFACT is one of several international EDI standards. Responsible for the EDIFACT standard is a UN agency called CEFACT, the UNECE is affiliated. The basic concept of EDIFACT standardization is that there are common types of messages, whose English name United Nations Standard Message (UNSM) is. In so-called subset, the types of messages are specified in their deep industry-specific characteristics. Below is a selection of the most common types of messages that all have exactly a nickname on the length of six major characters.
ANSI ASC X12 stands for American National Standards Institute Accredited Standards Committee X12 and is a data transmission standard in the EDI-area, which is mainly used in USA. The group was founded in 1979 and adopted in 1982 for the first time the ANSI ASC X12 standard. He was next developed by UN / ECE standard format GTDI (Guidelines for Trade Data Interchange) is the base for UN / EDIFACT. This standard data structures are described, as are used for transmission between different computer systems. The main difference with EDIFACT, which is used mainly in Europe, is the different structure of the message. Both EDIFACT and X12 it is possible to check the message to the recipient through a converter (EDI) and send in response a response file back. There is indicated how many segments and elements are correct and how many errors. In practice, it is often waived for this review, and generates an automated response with 0 errors and returned. Any errors will be clarified in the direct path between the partners.

The producers (or EDI Implementation) guidelines describe the delivery process for productive material and the application of messaging standards in electronic data interchange (EDI) of the automobile manufacturers and / or Tier 1 supplier with their suppliers. The detailed descriptions in this document form part of the basis for the implementation of the establishment and development of electronic data interchange.
The guidelines only include additional information on the recommendations / standards, so the availability of the relevant recommendations of the VDA and ODETTE standards necessary condition for the implementation of EDI technology and news. The application of the EDIFACT-based message types in separate message guides described in detail.
